I work in primary education - my class is 7-8 year olds. (Y3 it's known as here as they've already been in school for 3 years plus reception class... far too young, I know.) I know well the 'eyes peeled' for good acts. You can't teach well without being ready to spot the slightest positive sign of learning or better behaviour or kindness in the children. And then jumping on it with lots of positive reinforcement - praise, rewards, attention. The other side is knowing when to ignore the bad behaviour. It's a skill that takes time to develop and one that is never going to grow in the one-dimensional world that electronic communication offers us.
I wonder what the children think are the bits they want to encourage in me?
Thank you for bringing up this topic and for the wonderful quotations. Really useful for me when we are back at school next week for the final haul till late July. Enjoy your neighbours and their produce!

Dear Molly, I can always turn to your blog posts and they set my direction right once more. Thank you for sharing you days and the wisdom you're learning through prayer and Orthodoxy.

I love your book. It has been sitting on my shelf calling to me for a reread. It has been a few years since I've read it, but with my oldest two children in the middle of their high school years and the blessing of a new baby in our family I could use the advice and direction.

Hi Diane! How nice to hear from you. : ) The quote is from a book called "The Life of Our Lord" written by Dickens to his children.

Hi Fady! Thank you so much for reading my blog! I guarantee you it is by no means shiny and perfect in the Sabourin home - ask anyone who's spent more than fifteen minutes with us! My life, and faith, is messy - an endless series of stops and starts. I write primarily to renew my focus on salvation; I'm so easily distracted. If there is one thing I cling to all the time, it's love - never judging. I pour most all of my spiritual efforts into refraining from gossip and making presumptions about my fellow human beings, understanding all too well how weak and fallible I am myself. I pray, confess, commune, in order to strengthen my resolve to bring unconditional light and hope and kindness to anyone I come into contact with, trusting through that love everything else I need will fall into place as it should. I'm just a struggling, thankful, woman, wife, mother, neighbor and friend in need of constant mercy.

Hi Molly,
I'd call myself a big fan of your blog and fb page. I'm Coptic Christian, and sometimes wonder why isn't it so shiny like how it looks like there in your home/community. I mean what do I need to live my faith so lively every day. And thought to make my question specific:
What would be the thing (one thing) that you try all the time not to lose, and then you're on the right track? Love, Faith, Communion...etc.
thank you :)
